The EUR 3 million ARISE Plus Thailand Project is fully funded by the European Union (EU).

    Government of Thailand

The project was designed and is implemented jointly with the Government of Thailand, in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce (MOC), through the Department of Trade negotiations (DTN).  Partners for project implementation include the Office for Trade Competition Commission (OTCC)Comptroller General Department (CGD)Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC), and the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards (ACFS).

    Project beneficiaries

Direct beneficiaries of the project are Thai micro, small and medium-size enterprises (MSMEs), including producers, processors, collectors, traders, exporters, as well as women workers throughout and along the selected products value chains.

The International Trade Centre (ITC) is the only United Nations development agency fully dedicated to supporting the internationalization of SMEs. ITC enables SMEs in developing and transition economies to become more competitive and connect to international markets for trade and investment, thus raising incomes and creating job opportunities, especially for women, young people and poor communities. Established in 1964, ITC is the joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization.

ITC carried out a non-tariff measures survey in Thailand in 2016, to identify trade obstacles related to trade procedures and cross-border operations. In the region, ITC is implementing country level Arise Plus projects in Myanmar and Laos, focusing on trade policy, trade facilitation and private sector support, including in standards.

ITC is the implementing agency of the ARISE Plus Thailand Project.
