5-10 November 2018
The International Trade Centre (ITC) supported 74 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) from 18 least developed countries and developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America to participate in the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) held in Shanghai on 5-10 November 2018. Within these 74 companies, 18 enterprises in tourism, education, ICT and business services sectors from Ecuador, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Thailand, and Uganda were supported by ITC’s Trade in Services project, funded by the Ministry of Commerce of China. More than 60% of the participating services companies have reported at least three potential business deals initiated or concluded at the fair. Firms presented their offers, met potential clients and business partners and participated in B2B meetings facilitated by ITC in cooperation with the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, at the “Eurasian Promotion Conference on Trade in Services” on 7 November 2018. About 350 representatives from public and private sector attended the B2B event, which provided opportunities for ITC-supported MSMEs to build networks and explore concrete business opportunities. Five MSMEs reported to have signed letters of intent with Chinese counterparts committing to achieve closer cooperation through follow-up contacts. ITC had also assisted companies with preparatory work before the actual fair, including through the offering of an induction online course on how to make business in China and sharing information on potential business partners. Get to know the services companies supported by ITC at CIIE through these videos. Check out the services catalogue of the 18 companies from Latin America, Africa and Asia that participated in the first CIIE.
