Afghanistan’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce launched the National Trade Policy for the country. The policy takes centre stage in transforming the direction of Afghanistan’s productive sectors toward producing and exporting high value-added products. The policy document outlines the key principles and strategies that will guide the Afghanistan’s strategic integration into global markets. Afghanistan National Trade Policy is the result of a comprehensive design process, led by the International Trade Centre (ITC) with input from public and private stakeholders, intended to capitalize on the access to international markets enabled by Afghanistan’s July 2016 accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), see here.

The ISO 22 000 and ISO 19011 training helped participants learn about food safety, auditing and monitoring and evaluation for auditing process. They also received information and guidance on improvement, non-conformity and corrective actions.
The training was tailored for officials from Afghanistan National Standards Authority, Ministry of Agriculture and livestock, Ministry of Public Health and Ministry of Industry and Commerce (EPD). Representatives from the private sector also attended the training which helped familiarize them with the substance of the standards and implementation.
The training was organized under Advancing Afghan Trade - an initiative by the European Union and the International Trade Centre (ITC).

Mr. Didar highlights the support received from EU funded Advancing Afghan Trade Project, implemented by the ITC. The project supported the Start-up and Emerging Entrepreneur Network (SEEN) in building its institutional capacity, providing better services to start-ups and in policy level support. SEEN secured a seat in the structure of High Economic Council of Afghanistan (HEC).
